Baures is the name of a town located in the eastern lowlands of Bolivian Amazon area, but it is also the name of a native ethnic group (Baure). Our trade mark, “Chocolate Baure” is a collection of chocolate bars with different organic cacao liquor percentages based on wild growing cocoa seeds in remote areas of the Bolivian Amazon. The trees here have not seen (m) any human beings during centuries and date back to pre-Columbian times. They are not familiar with fertilisers, pesticides or other cultivating tools either. The wild flavour makes the difference with other cacao species.

The cacao beans used to make this ‘chocolate’ come from an endemic and unique species in the world. It’s origin dates back to pre-columbian times. It grows in the depths of the Bolivian Amazon without human invention. It is therefore, a wild cacao which has been processed following high standards of quality from the collection made by the locals to the ‘chocolate’ bar you have now in your hands.
